The conference ProvSec2008(website) will be held in Shanghai, China, Oct. 30th - Nov. 1st, 2008.

Introduction

With the dramatic development of telecommunications and information processing the demand for information security is rapidly increasing. However, with the electronic revolution, information faces new and potentially more damaging security threats. It is, namely, much easier to intercept and alter electronic information than its paper predecessor, and beside, attack can be delivered remotely.

Information security describes all measures taken to make services available and to prevent unauthorized use of electronic data, regardless whether it takes the form of disclosure, alteration, and destruction of the data concerned, or verification of authenticity and integrity of data, such as digital cash (carrier of value) and digital signature. Among preventive measures, cryptography provides the highest security in accordance with its flexibility for digital media.

Located at the Shanghai Jiaotong University, Cryptography and Information Security (CIS) Lab's purpose is the advancement of knowledge in the areas of cryptography, computer security, network security and related areas from a theoretical as well as a practical viewpoint.

The CIS Lab has more than 40 members, including facultys, research staffs, post-doctor fellows, PhD and MSc candidates. We have been awarded many projects under both the national foundation and Shanghai city research funding programs such as Natural Science Foundation of China and National 863 Programs etc.

The CIS Lab is a vigorous research group. We focus on research in cryptographic algorithms, cryptographic protocol, network and data security, PKI technologies, digital watermarking and the application, and also develop some related products.

We hope to communicate and cooperate with friends all over the world. Any benefiting idea on promoting the research, developing the technology or implementing products is welcomed. If you are interested in our group, please contact us with the following information:
