Kefei
CHEN was born in
Beijing, China,. He received the B.S. and the M.S. degree in applied
mathematics from Xidian University
(the former Northwest Telecommunications Engineering Institute), Xi’an,
in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Justus-Liebig
University, Gießen, Germany, in 1994.
From 1982 to 1990, he served as a lecturer in the Department of
Applied Mathematics and Information Security Institute, led by professor
Guozhen Xiao, of Xidian University. He got the German Konrad Adenauer
Scholarship and visited 1990-1991 in Goethe-Institute
Mannheim, spent 1991-1995 as a PhD candidate and researcher assistant
at the security group led by professor Albrecht
Beutelspacher, in the mathematics Institute, Gießen, Germany,
respectively. He came to Shanghai Jiaotong University as associate
professor in 1996, and assumed his present position as professor in 1998.
He was a vice chairman of Department
of Computer Science and
Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1999, and is currently
vice dean of School of Information
Security Engineering, director of Cryptography
and Information Security Lab.
Dr. Chen has been concentrated his work in cryptography and information security in the past years, especially in public key cryptography, authentication, digital signature, block cipher, digital watermarking, networks security, electronic commerce, and coding theory etc. He is the author of more than 100 research papers, and he received a National Natural Science Award of China in 1990, and Science and Technology Progress Awards by the Chinese State Commission of Education, in 1989 and 1993, respectively.
He
is invited as a member of the
Expert Panel Committee in the Department
of Information Sciences of NSFC in 2004,
and a member of Appraisal Committee (Information Science) for National
Natural Science Award of China 2001/2002, he also is a member of the academic committee
both of the State Key Laboratory
